Passive smoking - there’s nothing passive about it

A recent campaign in Northern Ireland let people know about the effects of passive smoking. You may have seen the TV advertisements.

The first advertisement, ‘In your face’, encourages people who don’t smoke to question why they accept someone smoking around them when they wouldn’t accept someone coughing over them. It might even make smokers think twice about lighting up around other people.

The second advertisement, ‘Safety’, is set in a house and shows how the dangerous chemicals in second-hand smoke can travel unseen from room to room.

The third advertisement, ‘Workplaces’, shows how even if just one person smokes in a workplace, everyone around them breathes in the dangerous smoke and chemicals that cause cancer, heart disease and stroke.
